Ledger Provenance
Sources and Methodology
Every factual line on this site has to trace back to one of the sources below, written at the strength that source supports — no stronger. This page is the working ledger, not a bibliography padding out a footer.
How claims are graded
- Official — published by TikTok or Google. Read narrowly: a general troubleshooting page does not document a banner feature.
- Third-party study — a named analysis with a stated sample. Its counts are reported as theirs.
- Third-party guide — a creator or tool site describing practice. Useful for method, never for availability.
- Screenshot estimate — platform estimates from a Semrush screenshot. Not analytics, not clicks.
- Unverified — no reliable direct evidence. It never appears as a confirmed fact on this site.
What that means in practice
Three rules follow from the ledger. A profile background is described as something users report, never as a feature everyone has. The three-post method is described as a method, never as guaranteed access to pinning. And no pixel size is presented as an official TikTok banner specification.
Where a claim depends on a named study, the study's own limits travel with it — the 603-review figure below comes from an Android-only Google Play sample, so it describes that sample and nothing wider.
The ledger
| ID | Source | Level | Supports | Cannot support |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S01 | tiktokbanner.cloud | Guide | Competitor section structure and their own recommendations. | Not proof of an official feature, official sizes, or real traffic. |
| S02 | RepostGrid tool | Tool | That functional splitters exist and dominate the "maker" query. | Not evidence about native feature availability. |
| S03 | RepostGrid three-tile guide | Guide | 3240 × 1440 canvas and 3 × 1080 × 1440 tiles; right → centre → left posting order. | Community convention, not an official specification; the UI can change. |
| S04 | Unstar 603-review analysis | Study | Uneven availability across accounts within a sampled Android review set. | Not worldwide eligibility and not a rollout map. |
| S05 | Social Age Checker how-to | Guide | Reported labels such as Add background and Change background. | Not a validated cross-device UI reference. |
| S06 | TikTok troubleshooting index | Official | The official route for reporting a problem in the app. | Does not document a banner rollout or a background feature. |
| S07 | TikTok developer design guidelines | Official | That logo, icon and design use requires permission. | Not individual legal clearance for this domain. |
| S08 | TikTok intellectual property policy | Official | That trademark confusion is a live risk for unofficial sites. | Does not determine that this domain is lawful. |
| S09 | Google: title links | Official | Unique descriptive titles and one clear H1. | No ranking guarantee. |
| S10 | Google: crawlable links | Official | Real anchors with descriptive text instead of script-only navigation. | There is no numeric five-links-per-page rule. |
| S11 | Google: image SEO | Official | Descriptive filenames, alt text and contextual captions. | No automatic image traffic. |
| S12 | Google: FAQ visibility change | Official | FAQ rich results are restricted, so FAQs are written for readers. | No rich-result promise. |
| S13 | Semrush domain overview screenshot (research file, not published) | Estimate | Rough competitor scale at the screenshot date. | Not a Pages report, not real clicks; small values need reconfirmation. |
| S14 | Competitor homepage screenshot (research file, not published) | Screenshot | Visible structure of one competitor page. | Research only — never republished as a site asset. |
Corrections
If a source has changed, or a sentence here overstates it, the correction takes priority over the existing copy. How to send one is on the about page.
